Unirope Adds Slingmax Helix and Onyx Roundslings to Rigging Lineup
Unirope Limited has added Slingmax Rigging Solutions’ Helix and Onyx synthetic roundslings to its product lineup, expanding its high-performance rigging options for crane and lifting applications.
The Canada-based company manufactures, distributes and certifies advanced rigging products from facilities in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, serving markets across Canada, the U. S. and Europe. A partner of Slingmax since 1988, Unirope’ s latest additions reflect a continued focus on innovation in heavy lift and material handling.
Each Helix and Onyx sling will be custom-built for Unirope clients, ensuring alignment with application-specific safety and performance requirements. These new options complement Unirope’ s existing portfolio, which includes Twin-Path, Gator-Flex, Uni- Path roundslings, Uniweb and Diamond Edge web slings, Uniloc wire rope slings and Rigger’ s Choice chain slings.
Helix slings use Slingmax’ s blended K-Spec core yarn, the same used in Twin-Path products, paired with a low-profile HMPE braided jacket. The design fits into tighter spaces without tapering and uses patented Rifled Cover Technology to improve strength and load-sharing efficiency.
Onyx slings are a more economical option, built with a 100 % HMPE core and dual protective cover. While they lack Helix’ s patented features, they meet all Slingmax and industry safety standards.
Additionally, Unirope will stock protective accessories including Slingmax’ s
Spider Sleeve( light-duty HMPE abrasion guard), Covermax( abrasionand UV-resistant nylon cover) and Cornermax( cut protection rated at 25,000 pounds per inch of sling width). Covermax versions 6 inches and wider now include HMPE yarn reinforcement and feature a red inner cover for inspection purposes.
All Unirope-supplied Slingmax slings meet ASME B30.9, Cordage Institute CI-1905 and WSTDA-RS-1HP standards.
Barnhart Expands Crane Operations
Barnhart Crane & Rigging has acquired the assets and operations of two Crane Service Inc. branches in El Paso, Texas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. The acquisition, finalized with Denver-based ML Holdings Co. does not include the purchase of Crane Service Inc. as a whole, only selected branch assets.
This move expands Barnhart’ s footprint in Texas and New Mexico. The El Paso branch becomes Barnhart’ s second Texas location, joining its Houston facility. The Albuquerque operations will merge with Barnhart’ s existing branch there, established in 2024 following the acquisition of Mountain States Crane.
The newly acquired operations provide crane service, industrial machine moving, transportation and rigging services, and bring approximately 45 employees into Barnhart’ s workforce.
ML Holdings, which acquired Crane Service Inc. in 2007, continues to own its locations in Amarillo and Sweetwater, Texas, as well as Denver. The company is shifting its focus toward larger, mobile assets for the energy sector.
Barnhart Crane also officially rebranded Canadian company NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul as Barnhart, following its acquisition in June 2024. The rebranding, effective immediately, marks Barnhart’ s first international acquisition and its largest to date.
The company now operates eight branches across Western Canada under the Barnhart name, with locations in Edmonton, Bonnyville, Calgary, Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie, Alberta; Fort St. John and Terrace, British Columbia; and Regina, Saskatchewan.
Approximately 400 employees support Barnhart’ s Canadian operations, providing crane, rigging and heavy haul services to industries including oil and gas, refining, utilities, mining, forestry and wind energy.
