an Apache helicopter company. Selected by NASA in 2004, he has made two spaceflights to the International Space Station and served as commander of the NASA / SpaceX Crew-2 Dragon spacecraft. He is the fourth person to fly on three different spacecraft and is fifth on the list for total time in space for all U. S. astronauts.
Addressing breakdowns in fleet safety processes and procedures, and driving safety improvements through accountability and effective approaches to leadership, was the focus of a presentation at EUFMC by Eric Kapitulik, founder of The Program, a provider of leadership development and team building services.
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Kapitulik served in the U. S. Marine Corps for eight years as an Infantry Officer and a Special Operations Officer. After earning an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate
School of Business, he founded The Program, a team of professionals that teaches organizations how to develop world-class leaders and teams.
In addition to offering key learning points about how great leaders and teams can drive fleet safety improvements, Kapitulik discussed his experiences in the U. S. Marine Corps and his survival of a tragic helicopter crash that killed seven Marines. He also detailed his subsequent efforts to raise money for a college scholarship fund for the children of his deceased teammates by competing in the world’ s toughest endurance races and climbing the world’ s tallest mountains.
