Hiab Signs $ 25M Crane Supply Agreement for Offshore Wind Projects
Hiab has signed a € 23.5 million( approximately $ 25 million USD) frame agreement to supply loader cranes for offshore wind parks, with delivery extending into 2029. The three-year agreement begins booking in Q4 2025 and continues through Q3 2028. Crane deliveries are expected to start in early 2026.
The contract includes Hiab’ s custom-engineered SWP loader cranes, which are specifically designed for offshore wind turbine maintenance and service. These units will be installed within turbine nacelles to support safe and efficient access for service technicians and to maintain continuous operation of the turbines.
This agreement is an extension of a longstanding customer relationship and builds on an existing supply arrangement. The wind farms supported by this contract are located in the United States, the United Kingdom and Taiwan, with further development plans in Germany and Denmark.
Hiab’ s expanded role in U. S.-based offshore wind projects reflects the growing demand for smart, durable crane technology in the renewable energy sector.
Alpha Welding and Boat Repair Adds Liebherr LRT 1090-2.1 to Fleet
Alpha Welding and Boat Repair, Inc. has taken delivery of a Liebherr LRT 1090-2.1 rough-terrain crane to support operations in a remote region of Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. The 100-U. S.-ton crane will be used for various projects, including construction, fishing vessel modifications and repairs and lifting fishing gear and related equipment.
According to the company, the crane’ s increased lift capacity and reach will allow work to be performed on docked ships without needing to rotate them, improving efficiency for operations at Dutch Harbor.
Founded in 1990, Alpha Welding and Boat Repair has grown from a small welding shop into one of the largest locally owned fabrication businesses in Western Alaska. The company provides welding, fabricating, machining, commercial fishing boat modifications and boat and dock repair services. It operates out of Dutch Harbor, the nation’ s top fishing port by tonnage.
The decision to purchase the LRT 1090-2.1 was based on Liebherr’ s customer service and the crane’ s capabilities, both considered vital for a machine operating in such a remote location.
The Liebherr LRT 1090-2.1 was developed with jobsite safety in mind. It includes an outrigger monitor that automatically detects support status and integrates with the crane’ s control system. The VarioBase variable support system offers added flexibility and can increase lifting capacity in confined spaces.
The crane is also equipped with a 154- foot telescopic boom that uses Liebherr’ s rope pull technology. This telescoping system enables rapid extension to any boom length using a two-stage hydraulic
cylinder with a rope extension mechanism. Operators can choose between two telescoping paths for either increased lifting power or maximum boom length.
Ketten Wälder Debuts cromox CRSV Roundsling Connectors with US Availability
Ketten Wälder GmbH has introduced its new cromox-branded CRSV roundsling connectors, designed for high-performance lifting applications in industries including defense, manufacturing and cleanroom operations.
Three models— CRSV-08, CRSV- 10 and CRSV-13— offer working load limits of 1.55-ton, 2.45-ton and 3.85-ton, accommodating 30 millimeter-, 40 millimeter- and 50 millimeter-wide synthetic slings. The stainless steel Grade 60 connectors are an evolution of the company’ s CVG series, built to connect synthetic slings to oblong-shaped masterlink assemblies.
AISI 318LN Duplex steel provides high ductility and corrosion resistance, while Grade 60 offers higher strength at a lighter weight. Each assembly may use one to eight connectors, selected based on WLL and dimensional charts.
The CRSV line will be displayed at LiftEx 2025 in Liverpool, U. K. Ketten Wälder is stocking the new connectors at facilities in Germany, the U. K. and the U. S., with shipments already underway.
Tandemloc Launches New 50-Ton Electroloc Lift Frame for Megapack Handling
Tandemloc has introduced the AX16D00- 00A-PA, a 50-ton, 6-point XL beam designed to meet the demands of heavy-duty Megapack lifting. With a working load limit of 100,000 pounds, the spreader beam is engineered to ensure safe, precise handling of high-value Megapack containers during transport and installation.
The AX16D00-00A-PA is equipped with an interchangeable plug-and-play 20 amp-hour battery pack system, which provides more than 10 hours of runtime and more than 100 container engagements per charge. A custom battery case allows for fast, tool-style swapping and charging. Additional battery packs can be purchased to support continuous lifter operation.
The lift frame includes a battery monitoring system with non-contact sensors to track locking and unlocking cycles, ensuring reliable twist lock control. LED signal lights offer clear visibility of operational status, while a wireless remote enables extended-range control with auto shutoff and emergency stop features.
The AX16D00-00A-PA also features motorized locking and unlocking, with onboard sensors confirming container alignment and twist lock position before operation. The system is designed to minimize human error and enhance overall lifting efficiency.
Tandemloc states the AX16D00-00A-PA represents a significant step forward in both safety and performance for heavy Megapack container handling.
