Lattice boom crawler cranes are in high demand across multiple construction sectors
On a power plant jobsite in Ohio, Maxim Crane is using a Tadano CC 78.1250-1 lattice boom crawler. The 1,375-ton capacity crane has a maximum main boom length of 687 feet and tops out at a tip height of 715 feet.
The most popular job applications for lattice boom crawler cranes continue to be in general construction, infrastructure, petrochemical, power plant, and wind energy projects, noted Allen Kadow, product manager, telescopic and lattice boom crawler cranes at Tadano.“ The need for lattice crawlers has not waned,” he said.“ At the same time, the tariff situation has settled, and increased construction of data centers driven by AI has definitely added to the need for higher capacity machines.”
Kobelco’ s Jimmy Hodges, general manager – cranes, reported consistent demand for lattice boom crawlers.“ There is currently a plentiful amount of work in all sectors of the industry for lattice crawlers,” he said.“ Not only infrastructure and energy segments are staying steady, but the large LNG plants and data center work is booming as well.”
Brennan Seeliger, product manager for crawler cranes at Manitowoc, pointed to a positive outlook for the lattice boom crawler crane market.“ A steady pipeline of projects across multiple sectors and sustained demand for lifting equipment of varying capacities is supporting that activity,” he said.“ Infrastructure development, including highway and bridge work, continues to drive demand for smaller lattice crawler cranes while warehouse construction, large-scale building
