Decades of Dependability
CRANES in Action
Cutting Edge Welding & Fabricating, based in St. Augustine, Florida, relies on the Link-Belt HTC-8675 Series II for structural steel projects across northern Florida and southern Georgia. The 75-ton truck crane has been a mainstay in the company’ s fleet for two decades, with updates made every five to six years to keep pace with the model’ s advancements.
The HTC-8675 II recently played a central role in constructing a 25,000-squarefoot medical office in Yulee, Florida. Operator Martin Leach highlighted the crane’ s reach— up to 197 feet— as critical for lifting heavy steel components into place, including I-beams averaging 1,400 pounds.
Leach praised its smooth handling and ease of use across jobsites, noting the crane’ s visibility features, the lighting package to improve safety in dark conditions and the user-friendly Pulse operating system as key advantages.
Cutting Edge utilizes the HTC-8675 II as the company’ s go-to taxi crane, ideal for quick transitions between projects.
“ That is where the HTC-8675 II can help us,” said Randy Mimbs, director of operations.“ If we encounter a problem with supplies, we can move to another site and keep moving or switch tasks.”
The ability to adapt quickly on the job is essential, and the HTC-8675 II can deliver the maneuverability and performance needed for the demands of steel erection.
Tadano Launches 1,375-Ton Capacity CC 78.1250-1 Crawler Crane
Tadano has introduced the CC 78.1250-1, a 1,375- ton capacity lattice boom crawler crane that succeeds the CC 68.1250-1. Designed for demanding jobs like wind power installations, it delivers improved lifting performance, transportability, safety and efficiency.
The crane achieves a maximum hook height of 736.5 feet using a 49.2-foot fixed jib and can lift up to 154.3 tons. Its base width has been increased to 11.5 feet for added stiffness, with crawler shoe options of 6.6 and 7.9 feet to handle varying ground conditions.
A dual-engine setup with an optimized hydraulic system enables single-engine operation at reduced speeds. Optional features such as dual CAN bus and an auxiliary power unit improve reliability and lower emissions.
It also includes Tadano’ s IC-1 control system for real-time ground pressure and boom data, HVO-compatible Mercedes-Benz engines and the IC-1 Remote telematics system for diagnostics and fleet management.
