Konecranes Unveils Hydrogen Fuel Cell Straddle Carrier at TOC Americas
Konecranes introduced its Noell Hydrogen Fuel Cell Straddle Carrier at the TOC Americas 2025 event in Panama City. The debut marks the company’ s latest move toward developing low- and zero-emission container handling equipment.
The hydrogen-powered straddle carrier is currently undergoing testing at Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG’ s( HHLA) hydrogen test field in Hamburg. Early results indicate comparable performance to Konecranes’ diesel and hybrid models.
Konecranes also featured two additional products at TOC Americas: the E-Hybrid rubber-tired gantry( RTG) crane and the electric empty container handler.
The E-Hybrid RTG combines battery technology with conventional cable reel or busbar systems connected to the local grid. The batteries serve as the primary power source and can be recharged through the external systems when needed. This approach can reduce dependence on diesel RTGs and minimize infrastructure costs in regions where electrical blackouts are common.
The electric empty container handler, now available throughout the Americas, uses high-voltage battery technology designed to provide up to 12 hours of operation before recharging. Deliveries, which began in late 2024 in other global markets, are underway, with positive initial feedback reported.
Konecranes’ product introductions align with the company’ s broader Ecolifting
ITI Opens New Crane Training Center in Florida
Industrial Training International( ITI), an Interplay Learning company, has partnered with Adena Corporation to open a new ITI Training Center in Lakeland, Florida. The facility, which began classes in October 2025, will provide instructor-led training for crane operators, riggers and other lifting professionals, aiming to address the region’ s skilled labor shortage in construction and industrial sectors.
The facility combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience, offering both indoor and outdoor spaces where students can work with live cranes and rigging equipment. Training covers practical safety protocols and real-world scenarios, including simulated loads, to build competence and confidence on

Engineered Rigging Expands Fleet with Holmatro 400-Ton Skidding Systems
Engineered Rigging has expanded its national bare-rental fleet with the purchase of six Holmatro 400-ton skidding systems, a move designed to increase availability of high-capacity equipment for synchronized horizontal load movement across the United States.
The company said the addition strengthens its ability to support projects requiring heavy, precise lateral movement, including rail-side transfers and infrastructure work involving uneven or unsupported surfaces.
The Holmatro 400-ton system is designed for precision horizontal transport and includes double-acting cylinders providing 400-ton push-and-pull capability. The unit uses rigid steel beams engineered to span uneven foundations and operates via a hydraulic split-flow pump for synchronized movement across skid units.
Engineered Rigging noted that the availability of six systems is intended to support both short-term rentals and multi-site deployment schedules.
The company’ s fleet also includes the Holmatro 200-ton lightweight skidding system, the Power Slide PS500 system, self-propelled modular transporters and robotic dollies.
