XCMG Provides a Sense of Confidence
A new XCMG XCT40U boom truck has joined the fleet at Thackray Crane Rental, Inc. Supplied by crane dealer High Caliber Cranes, LLC, the 40-ton capacity model has a 142-foot boom that can be extended to 197 feet with a jib. The boom angle range on the machine is from one to 80 degrees.
High Caliber Cranes, based in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, that offers XCMG boom trucks from 35 to 60 tons for the U. S. market noted that Thackray Crane Rental has been a household name for crane services for over 70 years. Headquartered in Philadelphia, the family-owned and operated company provides, operates and maintains a fleet of cranes for projects in a variety of industries, including construction, heating and air conditioning, power generation, petrochemical, communications and road construction.
“ Our operators say that the 40-ton XCMG is superior because it feels more like its mounted on a crane chassis than on a truck,” said Tony Rossi, operating engineer & lead technician at Thackray Crane Rental.“ Its stability and lack of flex gives them a sense of confidence, along with a formed boom design that seems to keep the boom in line.
“ The XCMG XCT40U boom truck also has large piston pumps rather than a small gear or vane pump like some traditional boom trucks, so functions don’ t seem to rob speed or power from each other,” Rossi added.“ We are also fans of the pilot controls rather than electronic systems because they are simpler and easy to repair.”
