The all-electric HUBTEX SFX 40-SO drives facility heavy transport processes
When long, wide and sensitive loads have to be moved on-site at facilities, load capacity alone is not the deciding factor. What matters is how the load is guided throughout the process: along which routes, over which surfaces, with what level of precision and with what degree of protection for the component.
A new solution for these challenges now being offered by HUBTEX is the all-electric SFX 40-SO heavy-duty platform transporter, a vehicle that combines electric drive technology with a coordinated chassis, steering and lifting systems.
The SFX heavy-duty platform incorporates a steer-lift drive system, automatic height leveling and 360-degree multidirectional all-wheel steering. According to the manufacturer, this combination of technologies allows transport frames to be picked up, maneuvered and positioned with control and precision.
Capable of moving loads of more than 44 tons, the SFX 40-SO features variable travel height supports for driving underneath loads, lifting and positioning. During travel, hydraulic axle compensation offsets uneven ground.
The SFX 40-SO was designed for combined indoor and outdoor use. Corrosion-protected components and a coordinated thermal management system support operation on concrete, asphalt or pavement.
Electrification was also a key part of the development of the SFX 40-SO, including the ability to reduce CO₂, particulate and noise emissions and provide sufficient range at the same time. In testing, the transporter covered a distance of nearly 7.5 miles under high load and still had more than 40 % battery capacity remaining.
Another key requirement for the HUBTEX solution was high machine availability during operation. As a result, the SFX 40-SO platform features assistance systems with a redundant energy and
control architecture.
The starting point for the development of the SFX 40-SO platform was a demanding aerospace application in which sensitive aircraft structures had to be moved safely. The solution had to protect components, enable precise transfers, cover different areas of operation and integrate reliably into existing processes.
The resulting SFX 40-SO, HUBTEX noted, is now demonstrating how customer-specific custom engineering leads to a coordinated system for safely and efficiently moving heavy loads.
