Spotlight Cranes
All-Terrain Cranes with on-board diagnostics mapping and the Grove Connect telematics platform for realtime machine monitoring are also features of the new GMK6450-1 AT model.“ We will also be introducing remote diagnostics within Grove Connect,” Boyer related,“ enabling technicians to remotely access the crane to adjust settings, reset sensors or update software.”
Hamburg reported that the newest ATs from Tadano, the AC 5.250-2 and the AC 5.250L-2, offer up to 30 percent higher lifting capacities compared to previous models.“ These cranes also feature Tadano Surround View to support driving and jobsite placement,” he said.“ While turning the crane, blind spots are shown on the system’ s display in the cabin, and when placing the crane on the jobsite, the outrigger positions and tail swing of counterweight are overlayed on the display in the carrier.”
“ Our new AT models also have the IC-1 Plus system, which provides operators with precise control of crane movements and advanced diagnostics,” Hamburg continued.“ It features live determination of crane capacities, automatic counterweight detection and asymmetric outrigger settings.”
The new five-axle Tadano AC 5.250L-2 AT has a 259.2-foot main boom and a maximum main boom extension of 98.4 feet. The available system length of 357.6 feet makes the AC 5.250L-2 an ideal crane for urban
D Crane Rental’ s AT is Always Within Reach
For the construction of framework on a new five-story 100-unit apartment complex in Lexington, Kentucky, D Crane Rental is relying on its 175-ton Link-Belt 175 | AT all-terrain crane.
“ As we go up with the structure, the radius gets bigger so we brought in the bigger crane,” said Lehigh Mocsh, crane operator at the Walton, Kentucky, company.
On the jobsite, the D Crane AT was called on to lift wooden prefabricated room bundles. For reaching the furthest point on the fourth and fifth floors, the 175 | AT extended 197 feet of main boom and had two fly sections extended and hydraulically offset at 45 degrees for a radius of 210 feet. In this configuration, the bundles weighing 5,000 pounds were placed in their specific locations.
“ We had the Link-Belt 175 | AT on site for two to three weeks finishing out the top of the building,” Mocsh said.“ We’ re set up at the entrance to the parking garage because that was the closest spot to reach everywhere and we still had the boom angles we needed.”
The Grove GMK6450-1 AT, an upgraded version of the manufacturer’ s GMK6400-1 model, has an increased maximum capacity rating of 500 tons.
